School Application Process

School Application Process

We are enrolling now for our Steiner School for children aged 6+ opening in September 2012. We accept applications at any time (from birth upwards) and operate an "all year" admissions policy, admitting children at any point throughout the school year.

We are opening in September 2012 with a Class 1/2 (6 to 8 years) and a Class 3/4 (8 to 10 years) see more information on Class ages. This upper age limit increases as the school grows by one class size each year up to age 16.

The application process is as follows:

  1. Make sure you have read and understood our application process in our Admissions Pack (see box top right)

  2. Complete and return the Application Form (see box top right). You can contact us for an informal talk before applying.

  3. We invite you for a Visit Morning where you can and find out more about us and Steiner Education, and get a chance to observe a class. Prior to the School opening in September 2012 this will be at our Kindergarten.

  4. We ask each child to spend a day or more at the School in the relevant class before any decision is made (period to be agreed at the above visit). This allows the child to experience a taste of what we offer, and provides the wider teaching team with an opportunity to meet the child. Prior to the School opening in September 2012 this will be spent ‘helping the teachers’ in one of our Kindergartens (who are experienced with involving older children in the group).

  5. We’ll arrange a Parent Interview where you have the opportunity to discuss the admission of your child with a teacher, and agree a start date and settling in process. It also helps us build a comprehensive picture of your child and their development. A non-refundable administration fee of £60 is required at this stage to facilitate the registration process. If the child you are applying for is already in our Kindergarten, you are not required to pay this administration fee.

  6. You provide reports from your child’s current school or kindergarten along with other reports as requested (if for any reason you want to delay this, please let us know).

  7. The teachers will make a decision on admission, and will contact you with an Offer of a Place and a breakdown of what this will cost. You then fill in an Acceptance Form and pay a deposit of £250 to secure your place. The deposit is returnable when the child leaves the School as long as a full term’s notice has been given in writing.
