About Us

The Cardiff Steiner Early Years Centre initiative began in 1997 when a group

of parents who were concerned by the way government nurseries were run decided to do something about it.

Steiner Education was the answer; an alternative form of education which embraces the creative development and imagination of the children as they learn communication and social skills in a warm and homelike environment.

We opened our first playgroup in Canton where the children were allowed to enjoy their childhood rather than being pressured into a competitive academic setting.

Since then we have moved to our current home in Iron Street, Adamsdown. The Centre's kindergarten provides space for 40 children aged 3-7 years, 5 days a week. We also run Parent and Toddler groups at the Centre and in St Catherine’s Church Hall Canton, Cowbridge, and Cosmeston Lakes, Penarth
