Woodland Facebook
Going to the Woodland Groups with both my boys was one of the highlights of my time with them during maternity leave. In fact when I returned to work I organised my days so that I could still attend! I found both the indoor and woodland groups a calm and nurturing environment to be with my very active boys.
My son and I always look forward to this in our week..it certainly is a weekly highlight! We both love the rhythm of the walk, the pace at which things happen, from feeding the ducks to poo sticks on the bridge, and time to explore and play with new friends. A wonderful way to engage with nature as part of a social group, where we learn and sing songs, listen to Tip Tap puppet stories (his favourite part) and eat jacket potatoes. Expertly held in a safe and nurturing way by Danae.
I never regarded myself as an outdoors kind of person….but the children and I totally LOVED the woodland playgroups, we went for years! The leaders were always delightful, kind, engaged, full of enthusiasm, adventurous and with a genuine love of kids. What more can you ask for yourself than meeting other wonderful people, being in nature and have such a great environment for your kids to play, make friends, discover new things, watch the seasons changing, get muddy, sing songs, scramble up banks and play in puddles?!
A lovely opportunity for parents and children to explore natural surroundings, find magic in everyday things like sticks, pebbles or leaves. It gives the children the all needed re-connection with nature and allows them to keep in tune with the changing seasons. The slow paced structure ending in songs and a meal brings everybody together. Lovely experience.
