About

Cardiff Steiner Early Years Centre is are a thriving city Kindergarten with two mixed age classes for 3 to 7 year olds (nursery and infant age). We are opening a Steiner School for children aged 6+ in September 2012. We open with classes for 6 to 10 year olds, with the upper age limit increasing as the school grows by one class size each year, up to age 16.

We are co-educational, fully comprehensive and welcome children of all abilities, faiths and backgrounds.

Established in 1997, we opened our first kindergarten in St Catherine's Church Hall, Canton in 1998 and moved to dedicated premises in Iron St, Adamsdown in 2002. We moved to our current home, St Anne's School in Roath, in September 2011. We are currently in the process of purchasing the former Hawthorn Junior School in Llandaff North from Cardiff Council.

The Centre has grown steadily, and now has a team of 17 teaching staff providing Steiner Waldorf Early Years Education five days a week at the Centre. We also run 8 Parent and Toddler groups both at the Centre and Pontcanna, Penarth and Cowbridge.

Our holistic and organic approach promotes a healthy, ethical childhood – these are all ideas that remain with the children through to adult life. We try to be ethical in everything that we do from homemade organic snacks and recycling to ethical banking with the Co-op.
